Description

With the Brazilian cavaquinho APC BR110 it's always time to choro or samba. Instrument manufactured in Portugal by APC but with tropical accent.

The Brazilian cavaquinho APC BR110 is a traditional cavaquinho but with a transatlantic touch. Constructed of selected woods, the top is in solid spruce, the bottom, the sides and the neck are in mahogany and the fretboard is made of black African wood, which gives it a warm and enveloping tone, as you would with an instrument made for sambar.

The decor is simple and discreet, using the natural shades of wood, with only two subtle rings around the mouth. The Brazilian cavaquinho is an evolution of the Portuguese cavaquinho, having bigger dimensions and resembles very much a classic guitar smaller and with four steel ropes.

The resonance box is slightly larger and deeper than the Portuguese cavaquinho, and the scale is not aligned with the soundboard. Another difference is that the arm has more than 12 frets. It usually tunes Ré-Sol-Si-Ré, from bass to treble, and is widely used in choro, samba and conga paulista.

Manufactured in Portugal by APC, a company founded in 1976 by António Pinto Coelho, who descends from a centenary school of luthiers from Oporto. The company has about 45 craftsmen who build different types of Portuguese traditional chordophones and other origins. APC is the largest national company in this field, producing and selling instruments for more than twenty countries.

The Brazilian cavaquinho APC BR110 is ready to start playing choro or samba, wherever they are, and to think of who is on the side or the side of the Atlantic. It is a small bridge suspended in four strings between two worlds that so much music share.
