Whether you're with the nostalgia of a morna or the joy of a coladeira, the CV110 is the cavaquinho that will take your hands and spirit to the islands of Cape Verde.
The Cape Verdean cavaquinho resembles a small guitar and traditionally has 16 frets, but the CV110 has 19, on a scale that goes all the way to the mouth of the body. The snare is bigger than the traditional Portuguese cavaquinho, which gives it a greater sound involvement than the national version.
APC used all its experience and knowledge to make this instrument, following the traditional manufacturing standards of the Cape Verdean cavaquinho. The top is made of solid spruce, a wood traditionally used for the tops of a wide variety of stringed instruments thanks to its flexibility and brilliant sound.
The back and sides are in mahogany, and the finish is in black African wood, to give it an original taste. The decor is simple and discreet, with decorative motifs painted around the mouth.
But don't expect to be discreet with the rich sound of the APC CV110, which is made to sound solo or together in rhythms as different as mazurka or samba.
If you already know how to play the Brazilian cavaquinho, you have another option here, as the tuning is the same on both sides of the Atlantic. Or in the middle and on the other side of the Atlantic. So that you don't lose the coordinates, the tuning is, from the highest string to the lowest, D - B - G - D. The founder of APC, António Pinto Carvalho, began to learn the art of building guitars and cavaquinhos, by the hand of his grandfather, when he was only 10 years old.
In 1976, he created APC, specializing in the construction of chordophones, which grew to become the largest national company in the field, with about 50 employees, who give authenticity and a personal touch to each instrument, manufactured with the most advanced technology of construction, for greater precision and accuracy.
