Cavaquinho APC 108 Round Mouth Half Tops Ovangkol Bottom
Model 108 APC cavaquinho with half tops, round mouth and back in ovangkol. The cavaquinho is a traditional Portuguese instrument with its own characteristics depending on the region. Made in Portugal.
The APC 108 combines the tradition and the quality, made for musicians looking for a reliable and beautiful looking instrument. Like the other APC instruments, it is robust in construction and has a rich and expressive sound thanks to the materials used in its construction.
Of note is the bottom and sides in ovangkol, a wood with excellent sonorous properties. Used woods provide rich sound and an exceptional resonance, give longevity to this instrument due to its resistance. The top is in spruce and acacia.
The aesthetic factor was also not left to chance.
Because it is a predominantly harmonic instrument, the cavaquinho is used in Portuguese folklore to accompany the voice, but it is also played along with traditional instruments such as viola, fiddle, reco-reco, among others. The traditional tuning of the cavaquinho is Ré - Si - Sol - Sol.
Widely used in traditional Portuguese music, as in the Mouth Whirlwinds, it has found space in other musical genres that benefit from its bright and very lively sound.
António Pinto Carvalho, the founder of APC, began to learn the art of building guitars and cavaquinhos, by the hand of his grandfather, only 10 years old.
In 1976 he created the APC, specializing in the construction of chromaphones. Nowadays it is the largest national company in the industry, with about 50 employees, who give authenticity and a personal touch to each instrument, manufactured with the most advanced construction technology, for greater precision and rigor. Modernity and tradition are the key of this company that proudly promotes the Portuguese cultural tradition.
The APC 108 is an example of the quality of this prestigious brand of popular Portuguese instruments, made for quality and prestigious musicians.
