The top of the Artimúsica CV16C is made of solid spruce and rosewood, which create a spectacular effect between its two half-tops in contrasting shades. The mouth is a spectacular work of decoration: it is a motif reminiscent of filigree in the shape of the heart of Minho, also known as the heart of Viana, a traditional Portuguese symbol.
The bottom and sides are solid walnut, cherry, maple or Australian mahogany, with a glossy finish that enhances the natural grain of the wood.
The four strings are tuned by a set of 2+2 nickel chimes, which allows for the most intense interpretations. Lower down, the split bridge ensures precise intonation. There are several tunings for the cavaquinho. The traditional tuning, from the highest string to the lowest, is in D - B - G - G.
