Artimúsica makes Portuguese traditional musical instruments. This cavaquinho is made with solid woods and comes with a very distinctive fan style machine head that you usually find in the Portuguese guitar.
The Artimúsica CV10L cavaquinho is a very original, very affordable traditional chordophone made in Portugal.
The Artimúsica CV10L cavaquinho brings together in one instrument several elements of different traditional Portuguese chordophones. To the body and typical design of the cavaquinho, Artimúsica decided to add the teardrop-shaped scroll and the fan-shaped tuning machines characteristic of the Coimbra fado guitar. The result is an original instrument, which fits perfectly in university tunes and in the hands of music lovers in the student city.
The Artimúsica CV10L is a simple, round-mouth model. The top is in solid linden and the back and sides are in walnut, cherry, maple or Australian mahogany, also solid. The neck is in poplar and the fingerboard is in panga panga. The finish is shiny, and the touch is very soft and comfortable.
The cavaquinho is one of the most popular Portuguese chordophones, from North to South of the country, with its insular variants. It accompanies female voices from Minho, academic tunas and also dances in Madeira. From viras to chulas, from malhões to "canas-verdes" , to “Mulher Gorda”, the cavaquinho is a very rich instrument, full of tradition.
The construction of this typically Portuguese instrument respects tradition and its musical legacy, unfolded in its various variants. From Cape Verde to Brazil, from Madeira to Hawaii, there is always a version of the cavaquinho, under different names. This chordophone gained importance and its own identity in each of the cultures where it was established and is one of the most popular instruments of each of these traditions.
Founded in September 1992, Artimúsica is one of the national references in the artisanal construction of traditional Portuguese instruments. The construction method initiated by master Joaquim José Machado, over 100 years ago, is still followed by the brand's artisans. Each instrument is crafted as if it were a true work of art, making each piece unique and of high quality.
The Artimúsica CV10L is a traditional cavaquinho, very original, with an incredible sound and at an unbeatable price.
