Cavaquinho Rajão Madeirense Artimúsica RJ80S Spruce Top 5 Strings
The rajão is a chordophone used primarily as accompanist of folklore singers and dancers of Madeira island, from where it has its origin. It has 5 strings and tune A-E-C-G-D, from the 1st to the 5th string, but being the 3rd the lowest. The rajão model RJ80S from Artimúsica has a top in solid spruce.
The Artimúsica RJ80S is a cavaquinho rajão, with five strings to play the bailinho of Madeira and other island fashions.
The rajão is one of the most popular variants of this traditional national cordophone. With five strings instead of the usual four, he tunes A-E-C-G-D, from the 1st to the 5th string, but with the 3rd string being the lowest, which gives it a very characteristic sound.
The RJ80S model from Artimúsica follows all the precepts of manufacture of this instrument, with the use of quality wood. The top is made of solid spruce and the bottom and sides are made of walnut, also solid. This combination gives it a brilliant sound and greater resistance and durability.
The neck is in mahogany, and the fingerboard is in panga panga, two woods that contrast very well with the tones of the body. The head has a very modern and interesting asymmetric design, boasting five tuning machines arranged three / two. The glossy finish highlights the wood grain while protecting it.
The Artimúsica RJ80S also has a round mouth, with simple decoration, but with very good taste. It is a very well built instrument, with an impeccable sound, perfect for accompanying group dances and singing.
Founded in September 1992, Artimúsica is one of the benchmarks in the artisanal construction of traditional Portuguese instruments. It is a family business, which follows the construction method started by master Joaquim José Machado, more than 100 years ago. Artimúsica's artisans manufacture each instrument as if it were a true work of art, making each piece unique, of high quality and full of tradition.
The Artimúsica RJ80S cavaquinho rajão is one of those instruments that all lovers of traditional Portuguese music should have in their collection, to be played intensely and with great joy.
Artimúsica RJ80S is manufactured in Portugal, by a national brand.
