Description

The traditional Portuguese cavaquinho Artimúsica CV43C is a luxury model with 8 strings. Built in Portugal.

Artimúsica is one of the most prestigious national brands of traditional chordophones, due to the refinement and attention that its craftsmen give to the details and high quality finishes of each instrument.

Artimúsica craftsmen chose the best materials to make the CV43C. The top is in spruce and rosewood, creating a contrasting effect between its two half-tops. The mouth has the traditional shape of a ray, adorned with a very careful and appealing decoration.

The bottom and sides are in solid walnut, cherry or maple wood. The neck is in poplar, and the fingerboard is in rosewood, giving a beautiful effect of continuity from the upper half-top.

Eight nickel-plated tuning machines guarantee the tuning even in the most intense interpretations. The eight strings give it a bright tone and greater sustain, with a huge solo or ensemble presence.

There are several tunings for the cavaquinho. The traditional tuning, from the highest string to the lowest, is in D - B - G - G. In the case of the eight-string cavaquinho, the tuning is doubled.

There are still other variations, in different keys, as in G: D - B - G - D; in A: E - C# - A - E; in C: G -E -C -G; and in C: G - E - C - C. But there are many others that prove the versatility and richness of this deceptively simple instrument. These variations open up immense possibilities for integrating the cavaquinho as an accompaniment or solo instrument in a tuna, in a traditional music ensemble, or in another musical style to the performer's taste.

The cavaquinho is one of the most popular Portuguese chordophones. Used in traditional music, from Minho raids to Madeira folklore, it has found space in other musical genres that benefit from its bright and very lively sound.

Founded in September 1992, Artimúsica is one of the reference brands in the craft construction of traditional Portuguese instruments. It is a family business, which follows the construction method initiated by master Joaquim José Machado over 100 years ago. Nowadays, their descendants manufacture each instrument as if it were a true work of art, making each piece unique and of high quality.

The Artimúsica CV43C cavaquinho is a very interesting variation of this traditional Portuguese chordophone, built with passion in Portugal to be passionately played anywhere in the world.
