Resonator Gretsch G9240 Alligator Round Neck
If you play heavy rhythm, fingerstyle, slide or any other style, the Gretsch G9240 Alligator resonator, all in mahogany an beautiful finishes casts the distinctive sound to the bottom of a large room. As with all Gretsch resonators, it comes equipped with the "Ampli-Sonic ™" cone.
The Gretsch G9240 Alligator is a Resonator guitar that projects the classic sound of these traditional models in a modern and high quality construction. From the Gretsch Roots Collection series.
Resonator guitars are unique, very characteristic of a time when there was no electrical amplification available. The Gretsch G9240 Alligator is the current version of these models, full of rich details and superior quality.
This resonator guitar follows traditional models in its construction, with a narrow body typical of folk and bluegrass guitars, in laminated mahogany, which houses the Ampli-Sonic cone, a resonance cone that gives it the characteristic sound and sound projection. This cone is manufactured by hand in Eastern Europe from almost pure aluminum (99%), producing an impressive quality sound and volume.
The Gretsch G9240 arm has also received a lot of attention in its design and construction. Also made of mahogany, in a Medium “V” round profile, it supports a padauk scale, a valuable wood of great resistance and consistent tonality. The frets - 12 up to the body of the 19 totals - are medium Jumbo. The position markers are in abalone, which combine perfectly with the head designed in the style of the Gretsch of the 1930s.
The aesthetic side of this guitar was very well worked, enhancing the ensemble. The two-color sunburst paint is protected by a semi-gloss vintage finish, which contrasts either with the head decorated in a mother-of-pearl effect or with the aluminum of the resonance cone.
But a guitar is not a decorative object. The Gretsch G9240 Alligator has a rich and voluminous sound, as you would expect, and is prepared for traditional styles, which include the use of slides, conveying the subtleties of execution in intimate spaces or making yourself heard perfectly in noisier environments, even at the back of the room.
The recommended strings are of a higher caliber (.012), already supplied with D'Addario® EJ16 Phosphor Bronze. The tuning is ensured by Grover® Sta-Tite ™ Die-Cast chimes, attached to a tailpiece of classic design and full of personality.
Gretsch, with its Roots Collection series, has decided to revive timeless instrument designs, which capture the voices and sounds of past generations. Inspired by tradition, the Gretsch Roots Collection celebrates its deep musical roots through high-quality instruments, representative of more than a century of music.
The Gretsch G9240 Alligator does more than revisit a tradition of resonator guitars, it is the continuation of the legacy of these models that crossed the 20th century in different styles, particularly those more linked to the popular American tradition, such as folk or blues. On this guitar the spirits of that tradition clearly resonate, with quality and in high definition, that all good musicians will know how to invoke
