The Gretsch G9200 Resonator guitar is a faithful reissue of the classic 1930s model in a modern construction.
Resonator guitars are unique, very characteristic of a time when electrical amplification was not available. The Gretsch G9200 Boxcar Round Neck is a model with a classic design, with a long mahogany body.
At the center of its structure is the Ampli-Sonic cone, a resonance cone that gives the sound and sound projection characteristic of these instruments. This cone is handcrafted in Eastern Europe from nearly pure aluminum (99%), producing impressive quality tone and volume.
The neck of the Gretsch G9200 is made of mahogany, with a smooth “V” profile. The fingerboard is made of padauk, a valuable wood of great resistance and a fantastic appearance that contrasts well with the tone of the body. The 19 frets are medium jumbo, marked by white dots so you always know where they are on the fingerboard.
The head is a classic design that evokes the era in which these Gretsch resonators were originally manufactured, giving them a vintage and distinctive look.
The Gretsch G9200 has a rich and voluminous sound, as you would expect, and is prepared for traditional styles, which include the use of slides, conveying the subtleties of performance in intimate spaces or being heard perfectly in noisier environments, up to back of the room.
The recommended strings are of a higher gauge (.012), coming standard with the D'Addario® EJ16 Phosphor Bronze. Tuning is ensured by Grover® Sta-Tite™ Die-Cast tuning machines, attached to a tailpiece with a classic design and full of personality.
Gretsch, with its Roots Collection series, set out to resurrect timeless instrument designs that capture the voices and sounds of generations past. Inspired by tradition, the Gretsch Roots Collection celebrates deep musical roots through high-quality instruments representing more than a century of music.
The Gretsch G9200 is the continuation of the resonator legacy that has captivated so many musicians over the last century with its characteristic sound. Initially used to play folk and blues, resonator guitars found space in other styles, many of them more intimate.
Make the music you bring with you resonate with the Gretsch G9200 Boxcar Round Neck resonator.
